Media literacy

With various partners, we are diversifying the approaches we use to raise community awareness. For example, with Cartooning for Peace, we are illustrating our Fact-checking publications with press cartoons for a period of one year.

International network of committed press cartoonists who use humour to fight for respect for cultures and freedoms.

Balobaki Check & Cartooning for Peace

Cartooning for Peace (CFP) and Koyekola Center, through its editorial project Balobaki Check, are committed to collaborating on the “Cartooning for Africa Facts” project, which began in March 2024 and ends in October 2025. It is part of the larger “Désinfox Jeunesse” program led by Canal France International. The project aims to “support the production and dissemination in the media and on social networks of press cartoons dealing with disinformation and hate speech” and is based on a two-year partnership between Cartooning for Peace and Africa Check.

The project involves illustrating at least 100 fact-checking reports in at least four African countries with press cartoons. The aim is to contribute to the dissemination of fact-checking reports and raise awareness of press cartoons, particularly as a vehicle for democratic values and media literacy.

Cartooning for Peace, a French non-profit organization based in Paris, is an international network of press cartoonists whose goal is to promote human rights and democratic values through press cartoons, while respecting cultures and freedoms.
